Hi, I’m Richard, welcome to my website…
In 2018 I graduated from Blackpool School of Arts with a first-class honours degree in photography, having previously worked professionally as a wedding and portrait photographer. I have been a photographer for almost 40 years and have a wide range of experience in many fields such as sport, wildlife and landscape and I’m able to share this expertise through my teaching sessions.
My creative practice examines the relationship people have with their body, with a current focus on touch and especially the associated benefits of skin-to-skin contact. I explore body normalisation, working against the widely promoted concept of the ‘ideal’ body, the cause of issues for so many people, plus raising awareness of issues that concern me such as supporting public breastfeeding. Throughout the year I undertake various personal and community projects and I frequently post castings looking for volunteers to participate.
For my personal and project work I shoot exclusively on black and white film and create hand-crafted prints using traditional darkroom techniques and a variety of processes from the Victorian era. My original limited edition, handmade prints will soon be available to purchase here on the website.
Thanks for looking, I hope to hear from you soon.
I possess a DBS Certificate issued on 27 April 2019.
I hold Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance.
