Hi, I’m Richard, welcome to my website…

In 2018 I graduated from Blackpool and the Fylde College with a first-class honours degree in photography and I am currently studying a Masters degree in socially engaged photography at the University of Salford with Open Eye Gallery.  I have been a photographer for almost 40 years, working professionally as a wedding and portrait photographer and have a wide range of experience in many other fields such as sport, wildlife and landscape.  I enjoy sharing my knowledge through my teaching sessions.

My creative practice examines the relationship people have with their body, with a current focus on touch and especially the associated benefits of skin-to-skin contact.  I explore body normalisation, working against the widely promoted concept of the ‘ideal’ body, the cause of issues for so many people, plus raising awareness of issues that concern me such as supporting public breastfeeding.   Throughout the year I undertake various personal, academic and community projects and I frequently post castings for volunteers to participate.

I shoot exclusively on black and white film and create hand-crafted prints using traditional darkroom techniques and a variety of processes from the Victorian era.  My original limited edition, handmade prints are available to purchase here on the website, please browse through the print sales pages.

Thanks for looking, I hope to hear from you soon,

Richard.
